Job Title: Climate Change Consultant
Location: Karachi, Sindh
Organization: UNICEF Pakistan.
Duration: 12 months
Objective & Scope of Work:
The consultant will support the formulation and implementation of climate policies, strategies, and plans to address environmental challenges and climate change impacts in Sindh. The position will ensure that children are central to provincial climate action and investments.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Environment, Climate Change, or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of experience in lieu of a Master’s
- Proven experience in developing, reviewing, advising, and implementing climate change and environmental policies and strategies
- In-depth knowledge of climate change science, mitigation and adaptation measures, international agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement), and frameworks like the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction
- Strong understanding of government structures and coordination mechanisms in Sindh
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with experience in statistical tools and environmental data
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite for reporting and presentations
- Fluency in English required; knowledge of a local language is an asset
