Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) is a leading public utility company in the power sector, providing electricity to over 5.4 million customers across eight districts of Punjab. FESCO is seeking to hire an experienced professional for the position of Chief Legal Officer (CLO). This is a senior-level position, responsible for leading the legal function of the company and managing all legal and regulatory affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all legal and regulatory matters concerning FESCO.
- Develop and implement corporate legal strategy to protect and promote FESCO’s interests.
- Represent FESCO in legal proceedings before regulatory authorities such as NEPRA and PPRA.
- Lead contract negotiations, draft legal instruments, and provide legal resources to safeguard FESCO’s interests.
- Ensure legal compliance across departments and provide legal/regulatory advice to senior management.
- Manage external legal counsel and internal legal staff to represent FESCO before courts and other forums.
- Foster strong relationships with legal and regulatory stakeholders.
- Maintain an up-to-date legal and regulatory strategy aligned with business objectives and external dynamics.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized university (preference given to Bar at Law or LLM).
- Experience:
- Advocate holding a valid license to practice before High Courts of Pakistan.
- Minimum 15 years of post-qualification legal experience, including practice before high courts.
- In-depth knowledge of laws governing the electricity distribution sector, corporate law, and contract negotiations.
- Experience with government and regulatory authorities.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of ERP systems, legal technical solutions, and automation.
- Expertise in the electricity sector’s legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and team management skills.
- Proven ability to strategize and resolve legal disputes effectively.
Remuneration & Tenure:
- Competitive salary package based on market standards.
- The contract will be for an initial period of three years, with a six-month probation period. It is extendable subject to satisfactory performance.
